- Rabbinowitz, Israel Michael
(1818-93)
French writer and scholar. He was born in Gorodets, Lithuania. He became a physician and settled in Paris, where he devoted himself to scholarship. He participated in the Kattowitz Conference of Hibbat Zion in 1884, and was head of the Benei Zion of Paris. In 1889 he went to Russia, and he eventually lived in London. His publications include Legislation civile du Talmud, Legislation criminelle du Talmud, La medicine du Talmud and Le traite des poisons de Maimonide.
